Blog Journal 8: Building a Website

I enjoyed making up my fake teacher and building a website. However, I engaged in a very unexpected activity in building the website; something I never thought I would have to do. I ended up having to code for my website! Now how could this happen, because at no point do the instructions point towards coding! Well, it is the result of my paranoia mostly. Allow me to explain, there were two categories for "High Pass" that created this situation. The first; every external link must open in a new page. This was easy enough, despite Weebly's design limitations. A link has to be inserted into a textbox, and once it is inserted a box can be checked off that makes the link open in a new page. This was simple, so how did I run into an issue? The second category; include a Creative Commons license. Also easy, Weebly provides an option for HTML file insertion! I clicked on the box, copied the HTML, and embedded it onto the website. So where did the issue start? Well my friends, the...

Blog Journal 7: PBWorks is so Close

Image
Hello friends!!! I wanted to find a class page from a school here in Tallahassee, but I ended up having to give up on that. I did find a class page that I really liked though! I have no idea where the school is, but I like the page a lot! Its a high school social studies page, and there is not too much personal info on there. There is no information about the students or parents, but for the teacher we get his name, former occupation, his email, a photo of him, a photo he took, and a link to a photo album he has made. Mr. Negron served in Afghanistan before he was a teacher, and his image can be seen at the top of the page. I actually feel like this does not reveal too much information. I personally would not reveal that much about myself on a public site, but thats just me! I don't think Mr.Negron doing it is weird or harmful to him in any way. And, just to reiterate, he does not reveal much about himself anyway. In terms of how I see myself using technology, I see myself using a ...

EME2040 Blog Journal 6: My Beef with Diigo

Lets start off by saying that I actually like Diigo. I think that it could be valuable to me as a tool to highlight and leave comments on documents that I am accessing digitally. This is great, because normaly I have a word document with all of my notes on my topic; even with listing the page number it can often be hard to immediately find the information I need. The issue with this is not having all my information in one place, and possibly losing things but Diigo may actually fix that as well. I do need to learn how to use it anymore. Will I use Diigo in collaborative settings though? No, I will not. I rarely ever work on a project with multiple people, and I don't particularly like it. A bulk of my work is papers; I like to be recluse while I am working on those.  Seems like no big deal, why do I have beef with Diigo? Because for a Portfolio Item we have to include notes and highlights on the Diigo page. I like to use academic articles over websites, which are normally acc...
