Blog Journal 10
Hello everybody!! Lets get through this and get this done!
I actually really enjoyed working on Assignment 5! I made a game of Jeopardy, and probably put in a lot more effort than required. It was geography based, and I made the answers to each question the color of the countries flag; this took up more of my time than was probably smart to let it take up. I learned a lot in doing Assignment 5, because I am not very familiar with powerpoint. I improved my ability to import images and create a powerpoint that is very much my own. I gained the entirely new skill of creating a presentation that is not linear, and only responds to my inputs through clicking! One screenshot would not do the assignment justice, so I am including 4.
Answering the question of how I will use data tools as a teacher is easy! I am always looking for criticism, because through criticism I can improve! I will use data collection surveys to see what students think about my class and my teaching methods. This will be anonomyous so that no student has to fear that their criticism of me will result in punishment. Through this data collection I can improve, making my classes better for everyone. I would probably have students do this at the start of class monthly.
As for the topics I found most interesting while reviewing my classmates's blogs. I am going to have to think back. It was definitely at the beginning of the semester! I think the topic that was most interesting to me was the discussion about how we will use technology in the future. It was a fun hypothetical dicussion. I also enjoyed reading about the varying degrees in which people were familiar with technology now, and the different applications that everyone uses to get work done. The discussion about how our use of technology has eveolved was also really cool; it was interesting to see so many people start with google docs in Highschool, then switch to Microsoft word in college! And, of course, it was incredible to get to know everybody; the introductions I had the opportunity to read may genuinely have been my favorite prt about these blogs.
I did not do tech-flex or digital badges, because I do not have a whole lot of time on my hands. It seemed fun and I wanted badges, but there was too much to do. I also did not have to do it because I got my points from Qualtrics done very quickly. I participated in a survey on racial microagressions then attended a focus group. It was a good experience that allowed me to do a lot of self reflecting and high level thinking.
This one might be the easiest question of all! I NEED TO LEARN EXCEL!!! It is so obviously important and I am so obviously underprepared to use it! I am not completely clueless, I can make charts. In fact, I think I am just barely PROFICIENT with Excel. I do not want to just be barely proficient though, I want to demonstrate mastery. As for how I will achieve this goal, I actually am not totally sure. I could watch videos, do things myself, and practice, but it seems to me that Excel profieciency comes from experience... or maybe I could take a high level certification course.
That wraps up this journal. I had a lot of fun making these, I had a lot of fun reading these, and I look forward to reading and commenting on two more to wrap up my blogging adventure!
Who knows? Maybe I will continue blogging in the future! Make a personal blog without telling anypne, write about my personal thoughts, if people read it they read it! That could be a lot of fun!
Go Noles!
